Mighty Picnic is a media production company based in South Philly, PA, and was founded by Emmy®-winning producer Dave Peth. Lyla in the Loop is the company's first original series for PBS KIDS. Mighty Picnic is currently developing original kids media properties across platforms. Before jumping into television production, Mighty Picnic helped create digital suites for projects like Odd Squad, Peg+Cat and Scribbles and Ink. Job Description:

The Executive Assistant/Production Assistant (EA/PA) position will aid the staff and provide administrative support for series creation, digital production, partnerships, research, and business operations. This position will primarily work with Mighty Picnic founder and CEO Dave Peth and Director of Business Operations Jade Avelis to oversee tasks such as meeting scheduling/organization, calendar management, email communication, organizing and delivering assets, as well as additional duties supporting ongoing projects as assigned. The EA/PA must be able to operate both independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment. 

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Executive Assistant/Operations Role: 

    • Assists in managing Mighty Picnic CEO’s calendar and scheduling meetings

    • Supporting in budgeting and accounting, such as compiling receipts and creating invoices for reimbursement

    • Facilitating operations and administration for Mighty Picnic (e.g., booking travel, managing software and hardware purchases, in-person meeting planning, etc.)

  • Production Assistant Role: 

    • Working in close collaboration with team leads across series and digital production

    • Compiling, organizing, and distributing feedback on plans, assets, and products

    • Time-coding scripts from the Lyla in the Loop series

    • Organizing assets and facilitating deliveries among project stakeholders

    • Coordinating communication among team members and scheduling meetings

    • Participating in production meetings and taking notes as needed 

    • Assisting in the planning and tracking of project schedule and daily tasks

    • Supports production needs as assigned, such as distributions and reviewing materials

    • Assist in preparing images and video for social media

  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: We estimate the yearly salary for this position to be $50,000-60,000 based on experience. This position is eligible for overtime.

  • Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Employees may also contribute to a 401(k).

  • Equipment: Computer hardware and software licenses will be provided on an as-needed basis.

  • Workspace: Access to co-working space provided on an as-needed basis.

Skill Set: 

  • Strong interest and experience in educational children's media is required.

  • Must have proven organizational skills as well as the ability to work accurately under deadlines.

  • Must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a keen attention to detail.

  • Must have a willingness and desire to learn new skills and processes on the job.

  • Must be flexible and willing to adapt to changes.

  • Must be able to work independently and with others in a remote work environment.

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace apps (Docs, Sheets, and Google Drive) is required. Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite and Final Draft is preferred.
